The details


Botloes Cottage is an interesting, spacious and comfortable barn conversion lying in a peaceful rural valley near the market town of Newent in Gloucestershire, ideal for relaxing, cycling and walking and with many nearby places of interest and only a half hour drive to Cheltenham. It is available for 2 people with optional extra en-suite accommodation upstairs for another 2 people if required. The cottage is warm and cosy at any time of year with an Aga and woodburning stove as well as central heating.

 

The owners live in the nearby farmhouse and you are welcome to enjoy the seven acres including field, woodland, orchard and large pond.  The land is adjacent to Three Choirs Vineyard and Restaurant; you can walk over (about 10 minutes) for a meal and back (torch supplied for dark nights).  The market town of Newent is a five minute drive away and has a full range of local shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants, takeaways and supermarkets.

The lowdown:

  • Ideal for a romantic retreat.
  • Sleeps two guests or four guests with upstairs accommodation as additional booking (external open stairs only).
  • Downstairs bedroom with a king size cast iron Gothic bed, copper bath and separate large wet room. Baby in own cot welcome.
  • Optional upstairs bedroom (queen size bed) with own bathroom for adults and teenagers (no young children due to separate external access).
  • Delightful lounge with exposed oak and pine beams, woodburning stove and dining area.
  • TV with Freeview, DVD player, CD player with iPod dock.
  • Good sized, well equipped kitchen with Aga, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer.
  • Bi-fold doors from the dining area open up onto a private patio area with seating, table and small BBQ.
  • Parking for two vehicles.
  • All bedding and towels supplied.
  • Four bikes available, please request when booking.
  • Welcome hamper with items for teatime and breakfast to start you off.  Includes milk, butter, cheese, eggs, orange juice, cereals, bread, scones or similar, conserve, bottle of wine.
  • No pets and no smoking or vaping inside the property please.

To entertain you:

  • Your local town Newent is 2 miles away and with a range of pubs, cafes and take-aways, bakery, butcher, greengrocer, and many other individual shops as well as several convenience stores and supermarkets. Newent Lake is an attractive stroll next to the town car park.
  • A short drive brings you to Ledbury, a 17th century market town with traditional black and white timber framed houses and many independent shops and cafes. The recently restored Master’s House (next to short term car park) is open to explore (free).  There is a public swimming pool.  
  • The International Centre for Birds of Prey is just beyond Newent and has daily falconry flying demonstations.
  • Beyond Ledbury are the Malvern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with breath-taking scenery and walking, as well as the town of Great Malvern with it’s theatre which has a full programme of live theatre and screenings.
  • Cheltenham is a half hour drive away and in the other direction is Hereford, both large towns with a full range of amenities and shopping. Hereford Cathedral houses the Mappa Mundi and is open for exploration.  Gloucester with it’s Cathedral is less than a half hour drive and boasts Gloucester Quays outlet shopping, cinema and dining in the docks.

  • Four night mid-week stay - £450 (£595 Christmas & New Year)
  • 7 night stay - £795 (£995 Christmas & New Year)
  • Use of additional upstairs en-suite accommodation - add £65 per night
